A brush fire that erupted about a mile north of Lake Skinner in Winchester charred nearly four acres before it was stopped, officials said Thursday.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Judith and Speziali roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate through medium brush, well away from area residences.
Nighttime conditions and rugged terrain created difficulties encircling the brusher, but bulldozer crews were able to establish tentative containment lines by midnight, according to officials.
By 8 a.m. Thursday, the blaze was 100% contained.
Crews were expected to continue mopping up until the early afternoon hours.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
