A 34-year-old man pleaded not guilty Monday to kiting $155,000 in checks in Irvine.
Mohamed Kamal Abbas was charged June 18 with four counts of writing checks without the funds to cover them, all felonies, with sentencing enhancement allegations of aggravated white collar crime between $100,000 and $500,000, according to court records.
Bail was set at $155,000 for Abbas.
One check was issued for $52,000 May 16, 2023, another was issued May 18, 2023, for $52,000, a third for $25,000 on July 19, 2023, and a fourth for $26,000 on Aug. 28, 2023.
Further details were not immediately available from police or prosecutors.
