A search continued Tuesday for a motorist suspected of fatally injuring a bicyclist in Long Beach.
The rider was struck at about 2:35 a.m. Monday near Cowles Street and Santa Fe Avenue, where officers responded and found a man lying on the road, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The man, who was in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he was traveling west on Cowles Street when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that turned east onto Cowles from South Santa Fe Avenue.
The driver fled the scene without offering to render any assistance to the victim, police said.
The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
