An allegedly impaired driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Pacoima was facing possible charges Wednesday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the 12600 block of Branford Street, about three-quarters of a mile east of the San Diego (405) Freeway, at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday where a white pickup truck stuck the pedestrian, according to the LAPD.
The victim, a 37-year-old woman, was pronounced dead by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel at the scene.
Video from the location showed officers with the pedestrian under a canopy.
The street was closed for the crash investigation, which revealed that the pickup truck driver, a 43-year-old man was eastbound on Branford when he struck the woman, who was crossing northbound and was in the number two lane, outside of a crosswalk, when she was hit.
The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and is now facing a possible charge of vehicular manslaughter, according to the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
