A freight train fatally struck a man in his 50s Friday in Glendale.
The victim was hit near the intersection of San Fernando Road and California Avenue, just south of the Ventura (134) Freeway, according to a Glendale Police Department spokesman who said the collision happened about 2 a.m.
The victim ended up under the train and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was unclear what the man was doing on the tracks when he was fatally injured, the police spokesman said.
Video recorded at the location showed police officers investigating alongside a stopped freight train.
The man’s name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
