Authorities Thursday were investigating a shooting in Hemet that left a man hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
The shooting was reported about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Sanderson Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.
A reporting party told officers that a man walked into a business with an apparent wound to his neck and told employees that he had been shot behind the business, then left the scene before authorities arrived.
Officers found evidence of a shooting they believed originated in the 3800 block of West Stetson Avenue, police said. Additionally, they learned the shooting victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
After contacting the injured man, whose name and age were not revealed, he did not provide any additional information to officers except that he believed he was shot by a pellet gun.
