A kidnapping suspect who was fatally shot by deputies after he fired shots at a man in a car trunk in Chino Hills was an Irvine resident who knew the now-dead victim, authorities said Friday.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department released no details about the “working relationship” between the suspect and victim, but in a statement issued Friday, the agency identified the two men suspected of kidnapping victim Shukur Aikebaer, 60, of Chino Hills, as Zhengfeng Bo, 67, and Jianquan Bo, 66.
According to sheriff’s officials, the electrical power to Aikebaer’s home in the 2100 block of Monteverde Drive was interrupted Thursday morning and when he went outside to the check the electrical panel, he was allegedly shot and kidnapped by the two suspects.
Aikebaer was stuffed into the trunk of the suspects’ car, which was stopped by deputies in the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive in Chino Hills.
At that point, Zhengfeng Bo got out from the driver’s side of the car, opened the trunk and shot Aikebaer again, before deputies opened fire and killed him.
Jianquan Bo was taken alive and was booked and jailed without bail on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.
Irvine police assisted San Bernardino sheriff’s deputies in serving a search warrant at the Bo residence on Thursday night. Unspecified evidence was recovered.
Investigators were still examining the cause of the electrical service interruption in additional to other details about the kidnapping and killing.
