A Los Angeles Police Department officer sustained non-life threatening injuries Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the Manchester Square area of South Los Angeles.

The crash was reported about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Florence and Western avenues, according to the LAPD.

A department spokesman said the officer was following a reckless driver at the time of the crash.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and evaluated the officer before taking her to a hospital.

She appeared to be sitting up and alert after being placed in an ambulance.

One person was taken into custody at the scene, but additional details were not immediately available, an officer in the LAPD’s Media Relations Division said.

The officer was not seriously injured, he added.
