A 29-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a 38-year-old man in Long Beach was arrested Wednesday.
Officers received a report of a shooting about 1 a.m. Friday and responded to the 700 of block of Magnolia Avenue, east of Edison Elementary School, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
They rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead, police said.
He was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as 38-year-old Ali Muhammad Azim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Homicide detectives later identified the suspected shooter as Lefulefu Kaio Pasa Jr.
He was located and taken into custody Wednesday after Special Weapons and Tactics Team investigators executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue, about a quarter-mile from the site of the shooting.
Pasa was booked on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $2 million.
Police said the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
