Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a suspected hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of a 33-year-old man who was riding an electric scooter in South Los Angeles.
Detectives assigned to the South Traffic Division began investigating the traffic collision that resulted in the man’s death in late March, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. on March 25 after receiving reports of a man who was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop while riding an electric scooter near Hoover and 75th streets, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location, where they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the department said in a statement.
A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
