Drivers traveling westbound on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Sherman Oaks Wednesday morning saw firefighters at work putting out a brushfire on the roadside.

The fire was reported at 3:36 a.m. on the westbound Ventura Freeway just east of Haskell Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters went to the scene and the CHP did not stop the relatively low flow of traffic on the Ventura Freeway. A Sigalert was issued at 4:30 a.m. shutting down the transition from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the affected side of the Ventura Freeway. That Sigalert was cancelled at 5:11 a.m.
