A registered sex offender was charged Friday with sexual battery on two victims in Irvine.
Hasmyr Helim Sanchez was accused of coming from behind a woman he worked with June 27 in an office and molesting her, police said. Police did not have information about a May 27 attack.
Sanchez was charged with a felony count of sexual battery and misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and sexual battery, according to court records. Sanchez’s arraignment Friday in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana was rescheduled for Sept. 4 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Sanchez was booked Thursday.
Sanchez pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to a felony count of kidnapping and a misdemeanor count of touching an intimate part of another person. He was sentenced then to 364 days in jail and had 225 days credit behind bars then.
Sanchez molested a 16-year-old girl he worked with at a Denny’s restaurant in Anaheim, according to court records.
As part of Sanchez’s plea deal last year, felony counts of rape, assault with the intent to commit a sex offense, sexual battery, assault of a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense and false imprisonment were dismissed.
Sanchez was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
Sanchez worked with the victim, who was a waitress, at the Denny’s at 1610 S. Harbor Blvd., according to police testimony at the defendant’s preliminary hearing. She said he sexually assaulted her in a storage room at the restaurant on May 17, 2021.
Sanchez was also accused by another co-worker from a Taco Bell in Anaheim, who said she was assaulted in a car with him, but those charges were dismissed.
