A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday and was immediately sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls, one he met through social media and the other a relative in Santa Ana.

Leonel Salgado Munoz pleaded guilty to single counts each of sex with an underage victim and oral copulation of a victim younger than 16 as well as three counts of forcible lewd acts on a child, all felonies. As part of the plea bargain 11 felony sex counts were dismissed.

Munoz has credit for 1,168 days behind bars and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

At the defendant’s preliminary hearing, police testified that he met one of the victims through Snapchat when she was 14. The teen attended the same high school as his stepsister, police said.

Police testified that Munoz had sex with the girl multiple times in his home and car and at times provided her with drugs and alcohol.

The other victim, who was the same age, lived with Munoz, police said. Munoz forced himself on the girl and had placed a camera in a shower when she was 11, according to police testimony.

Munoz used information from social media to compel her to have sex with him about twice a week for two to three years and recorded the encounters, police testified.
