One person was injured Monday when an SUV crashed into the rear of a big rig on a Sylmar freeway.
The collision occurred around 2:25 p.m. on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Roxford Street, north of the San Diego (405) Freeway transition, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials said the driver of the SUV appeared to be driving on the right shoulder when it slammed into the back of the parked truck.
Aerial footage showed the black SUV pinned beneath a rear corner of the semi-truck.
One person was trapped in the SUV and had to be pulled from the vehicle, according to the CHP.
The person was taken to a hospital, with crews at the scene describing the injuries as critical.
Two northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were closed as authorities investigated the collision.
