Authorities continued their investigation Monday into a two-vehicle collision that killed a 36-year-old motorcyclist and left a 61-year-old woman injured in Palm Springs.
The crash was reported about 7 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Teagarden Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A silver Kia driven by a Desert Hot Springs woman was traveling westbound on Teagarden Drive at an unspecified speed when she made a left turn onto North Indian Canyon Drive, where the vehicle “crossed into the motorcycle’s path and caused the motorcycle to crash into the left side of the Kia,” the agency stated.
The impact from the crash caused the rider to be ejected, and he came to rest on the roadway.
The motorcyclist, identified as Lester Cordero of Desert Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The Kia driver, whose name was not released, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with complaints of pain. The severity of her injuries was not immediately known.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the collision, the CHP said.
