A brush fire in the Antelope Acres area in the high desert grew to 20 acres before Los Angeles County firefighters stopped its forward progress Saturday.
The fire was reported at 5-10 acres in light grass with a moderate spread about 4:15 p.m. Saturday at 110th Street West and West Avenue D, west of Lancaster in the Antelope Valley, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Keith Navarre told City News Service.
Two water-dropping helicopters assisted firefighters on the ground in stopping the forward progress of the blaze at 20 acres at 5:14 p.m., Navarre said.
No structures were immediately threatened but evacuation warnings were issued for an area that included the California Poppy Preserve and General William J. Fox Airfield.
No injuries were reported.
