Police sought the public’s help Monday to identify the driver of an SUV that struck and fatally injured a 30-year-old pedestrian in Van Nuys before fleeing the scene.
The collision occurred about 3:45 a.m. Friday on Sherman Way west of Sherman Circle, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said a dark-colored SUV was traveling east on Sherman Way when it struck the man, who was outside a crosswalk.
The driver continued east without stopping to identify themselves or render aid, police said.
Another motorist who witnessed the collision pulled over and contacted authorities.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. His name was not immediately released.
A $50,000 reward is available for information leading to the driver’s identification, arrest and conviction.
