The family of a 46-year-old who was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding a motorcycle in Studio City appealed to the public Monday for information leading to the driver who left their loved one to die.

The crash was reported around 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, on Ventura Boulevard at Carpenter Avenue, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Carpenter Community Charter School, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Family members identified the victim as Philip Chon.

A $50,000 reward was offered leading to the identification and prosecution of the involved driver.

Chon was traveling east on Ventura Boulevard when the driver of a dark blue 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan traveling westbound attempted to make a left turn onto Carpenter and turned in front of the motorcycle, the LAPD said.

The driver of the Honda did not stop and continued south on Carpenter before abandoning the vehicle, police said.

Paramedics took Chon to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call 818-644-8036 to speak with Detective Anderson of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should contact the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go directly to lacrimestoppers.org.
