A firefighter was injured Wednesday while battling a brush fire in an unincorporated area west of Palmdale that scorched about 16 acres of vegetation.
Fire crews responded around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 10000 block of Elizabeth Lake Road in Leona Valley regarding a brush fire that initially burned about 2 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
One firefighter was taken by helicopter to UCLA Health Regional Burn Center in West Hills in unknown condition, authorities said.
Details about what caused the Iris Fire, which initially threatened at least one structure, remained under investigation.
