Seventeen equestrian units have been selected to ride in the 2027 Rose Parade, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses announced Wednesday.
The lineup includes the Budweiser Clydesdales, the Pasadena Police Department’s Mounted Enforcement Unit, the United States Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard and several Southern California riding teams.
The 138th Rose Parade will travel along Colorado Boulevard on Jan. 1 under the theme “Welcome.” The equestrian units will ride alongside floats, marching bands and other performers on the 5 1/2-mile route.
“From powerful cavalry formations and mounted law enforcement to dazzling charro teams, high-energy rodeo performers and precision drill teams, the 2027 equestrian lineup brings an unforgettable mix of skill, spectacle and personality to New Year’s Day,” according to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
The selected units are:
— 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment, Fort Hood, Texas;
— Blue Shadows Mounted Drill Team, Lake View Terrace;
— Budweiser Clydesdales, St. Louis, Missouri;
— Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse and Burro Program 250th Ambassador Team, Freedom and Liberty, Cheyenne, Wyoming;
— Disneyland Resort, Norco;
— Hawaii Pa’u Riders, Waimanalo, Hawaii;
— Los Hermanos Banuelos Charro Team, Altadena;
— Painted Ladies Rodeo Performers, Sacramento;
— Pasadena Police Department’s Mounted Enforcement Unit, Pasadena;
— San Francisco Sheriff’s Mounted Unit, San Francisco;
— Scripps Miramar’s Omnibus, San Diego;
— Spirit of the West Riders, Tehachapi;
— The New Buffalo Soldiers, Shadow Hills;
— The Norco Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team, Norco;
— The Valley Hunt Club, Pasadena;
— United States Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, Barstow; and
— Versatile Arabians, Sierra Madre.
The public can see the horses and riders at Equestfest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. The event will feature riding demonstrations, exhibits and opportunities to meet the participants, according to the Tournament of Roses.
