A pedestrian who was walking in a marked crosswalk was struck by a vehicle and left to die Sunday in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 12:39 a.m. Sunday at De Soto Avenue and Lassen Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
The vehicle was southbound on De Soto when it struck the male pedestrian and kept on going, he said.
The driver was also believed to be a male, although his age was not known.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman said.
