A 56-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on a Westminster street.

Officers with the Westminster Police Department responded at 3:13 a.m. Saturday to the area of Beach Boulevard and McFadden Avenue, according to Cmdr. Andy Stowers.

Arriving officers found the victim lying unresponsive in the street, Stowers said.

The officers worked to save the man’s life but he was pronounced dead at the scene after Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived, he said. The man’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene, Stowers said. Alcohol or drugs did not appear to have been involved.

Much of Beach Boulevard and parts of McFadden Avenue were shut down for about seven hours while officers investigated the fatal crash.
