STEMfest, an education conference that focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, will be held in Los Angeles in 2017, event organizers announced Thursday.
The week-long event draws participants from 55 countries. About 1,200 delegates attended the 2013 conference in Malaysia. This year’s confab will begin in late September in Saskatoon, Canada.
The annual event is put on by Australia-based education and business partnership organization Global STEM States and is attended by educators and business people interested in making sure students are learning skills needed in the workplace.
The festival also offers some activities for students and other members of the public.
The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board took part in a competitive bidding process to bring the conference to the city.
