Grants totaling $300,000 are available to Coachella Valley-area nonprofits, but applications must be submitted by Sept. 10 to be eligible for consideration, it was announced Monday.
The H.N. & Frances C. Berger Foundation will select a dozen organizations to receive 2019 Spotlight Awards grants, continuing a tradition that began in 2009.
“I still get excited to review all the applications and learn about the many great programs serving the needs of the Coachella Valley,” said Catharine Reed, the foundation’s director. “Selecting only 12 recipients is tough, but it is also rewarding when we visit the organizations and see how they are putting the funds to use.”
The foundation has awarded $3 million in grants to more than100 nonprofits over the last decade, supporting programs for children, seniors, veterans, people with debilitating health disorders, the uninsured and animals, according to Reed.
Tax-exempt schools qualify for spotlight grants, and past grant recipients are eligible to apply for 2019 awards, according to the foundation.
The 12 organizations that receive funding will be profiled on CBS2’s “Eye on the Desert,” as well as receive recognition via social media and public service announcements.
Spotlight applications are available at www.cbslocal2.com, or by calling (760) 773-0342.
