California Baptist University will hold its first Canned Food Drive game Tuesday evening when its women’s basketball team plays host to Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m.
Fans can exchange a canned food item for a ticket to the game at the entrance of the CBU Events Center.
The game coincides with the annual Canned Food Drive conducted by CBU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to donate to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, around Thanksgiving.
CBU athletes collected almost 6,000 pounds of food last year to donate to Feeding America, according to athletic director Micah Parker.
The Feeding America network consists of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, committed to fighting hunger in communities across the nation.
