Riverside’s Norte Vista High School is one of five schools in a nationwide competition for a locker room renovation.
The competition is put on by locker manufacturer Hollman.
In a video posted by Norte Vista, football team Coach Ken Batdorf takes viewers on a tour of the dilapidated boys locker room.
“The wall is starting to fall apart, as well as the ceiling in here. It leaks during the rainy season,” Batdorf says. He also notes a wobbly bench, broken lockers and malfunctioning bathroom fixtures.
Voting runs through Feb. 3 and the winner will be announced Feb. 7. Votes can be cast at www.hollman.com/hollmanhelps.
“A lot of these kids are from single-parent homes, so when the kids come here, it’s really like a second home,” Batdorf says.
