Loyola Marymount University announced Thursday that its 2020 commencement ceremonies have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the university is exploring alternative dates.
The university said it is planning virtual celebrations that will occur on the originally scheduled dates — May 9 for undergraduates; May 10 for graduate students; May 17 for LMU Loyola Law School — but they will not replace the forthcoming commencement ceremonies.
LMU said details of actual ceremonies will be announced as soon as they become available.
“I am grateful to our students, faculty and staff for your resilience and creativity while we adjust to this temporary way of educating Lions amidst a wave of uncertainty, loss, and grief,” LMU President Timothy Law Snyder said. “Our society’s ongoing, collective commitment to conquering COVID-19 through social distancing measures will help us determine an optimal time to schedule the ceremonies.”
