The Desert Sands Unified School District temporarily closed three of its schools due to several reported coronavirus infections among office staff, the district announced Friday.

Two members of the office staff at Summit High School and Horizon School — which share a single campus — tested positive, along with two at Palm Desert High School, district spokeswoman Mary Perry said.

Office staff at the three schools were urged to quarantine for two weeks and work from home.

“Because there will be no office staff or administration on campus, teachers have been directed to teach from home and all athletic conditioning has been suspended,” Perry said.

District students have been learning remotely since the start of fall semester due to the pandemic.
