The annual Water Harvest community festival in El Segundo will be held virtually this October due to the surge of COVID-19 cases, organizers announced Monday.
Normally hosted by the West Basin Municipal Water District at the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in El Segundo, the Water Harvest community festival will instead be free online, allowing families to engage with water experts and learn about local water issues. The Oct. 23 event will start at 10 a.m.
“We are excited to develop a fun, fresh version of the event that will keep our community members connected and learning about our precious water sources from the comfort of their homes,” said West Basin Board President Harold C. Williams. “This is especially important as our county and state faces increasingly severe drought conditions.”
The event attracted more than 1,000 attendees in years past. This year, the festival will focus on providing an interactive educational experience, including water-related activities, games and giveaways.
