Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters knocked down a fire at a single-family home Thursday in Valley Glen neighborhood east of Van Nuys.

Fire crews were called to 13455 W Bassett St. and Sunnyslope Avenue at 1:05 a.m. Thursday and found the boarded-up structure fully engulfed in flames. They proceeded in defensive mode due to safety concerns, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

Firefighters were able to get control of the fire and knocked down the flames in 39 minutes. It took 38 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Representatives from the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and the Department of Water and Power were contacted to assist with the investigation of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
