The fire was reported at 6:36 a.m. at 1160 E. 120th Street near Central Avenue, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Smoke was showing from the affected unit when firefighters arrived, Stewart said.
It took the 32 firefighters 18 minutes to put out the flames at 7:14 a.m. without spread to adjacent units, she said. No injuries were reported.
