Firefighters in the air and on the ground coordinated the rescue of a man who fell about 30 feet in a rugged, remote section of Stoney Point in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles Sunday.

The effort began about 7:10 p.m. Sunday at the popular Stoney Point Park rock-climbing area east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, south of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

An LAFD Rescue Helicopter lowered a flight paramedic in a cable and harness to treat the patient’s immediate needs and hoist him into the helicopter for transport to a regional trauma center, Humphrey said.
