Firefighters Sunday reached 98% containment of a vegetation fire that burned 46 acres in the community of Ordway, north of Moreno Valley.
The Oak Fire was reported about 5 p.m. Saturday near Live Oak Canyon Road and San Timoteo Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The blaze initially burned 10 acres of grass at a moderate rate of spread, prompting the deployment of ground and air resources. No injuries were reported and there were no immediate threats to structures.
Crews worked through the night to strengthen containment lines and extinguish hot spots. By Sunday morning, the fire was 50% contained.
