A fire broke out in a woodworking shop in Van Nuys Thursday, but no one was injured.

The fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. Thursday in a one-story shop in a row of businesses in the 16100 block of West Cohasset Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The first arriving firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the business.

A total of 48 firefighters put the fire out in 23 minutes, according to LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately determined.
