Fire damaged a vacant two-story downtown commercial complex, the site of previous burns, authorities said Saturday.

The fire was reported at 1:04 a.m. at 1224 S. Hope St., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

Fire was showing from the first and second floors of the 100-by-150 foot structure, Lantz said.

Firefighters initially entered the building before deciding to fight the blaze from outside the structure while prioritizing “the protection of neighboring structures,” she said.

Knockdown was reported at 1:54 a.m. but crews were expected to remain overnight.

No injuries were reported and the cause was under investigation.

Fires were previously reported at the same address earlier this month on July 10 and on Jan 7, 2025.
