A brush fire in the high desert burned about 17 acres Tuesday while threatening structures in the Littlerock area southeast of Palmdale.
The Haskett Fire was reported at 11:54 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Cheseboro and Mt. Emma roads, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which dispatched a full brush response and water-dropping helicopters to battle the blaze.
Crews arrived on the scene at 12:07 p.m. The fire was burning in an easterly direction amid medium to heave brush, an LACoFD official told City News Service.
The blaze went to a second alarm at 12:55 p.m., according to the fire department.
At one point the fire was estimated at about 35 acres, but subsequent mapping put the burned acreage at 17 acres, according to radio transmissions from crews at the scene that also indicated the blaze’s forward progress had been stopped by about 1:20 p.m.
No injuries were immediately reported.
