The Board of Supervisors renewed a $10,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to whoever was involved in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man outside his home in Long Beach.

Supervisor Don Knabe recommended extending the reward, set to expire Nov. 17.

Olataga Filemoni was talking with friends in front of his home in the 3200 block of Baltic Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. on July 25 when a small compact car stopped in front of the house and someone inside shouted out a “a gang phrase,” according to the Long Beach police.

No one in Filemoni’s group was in a gang, so they didn’t respond. Someone inside the car almost immediately opened fire, police said.

Filemoni, who was struck several times, was rushed to a hospital, but he died three days later.

Several people reported hearing shots, but nobody has come forward with a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the attack was asked to call Long Beach police detectives Greg Krabbe or Mark McGuire at (562) 570-7244.

Witnesses may remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
