The Board of Supervisors Tuesday offered a $10,000 reward for information about a fatal shooting on Christmas Eve 2013 in Lynwood and renewed a $10,000 reward in a fatal 2010 Palmdale shooting.
Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas recommended the reward in the Lynwood case.
On Dec. 24, 2013, Charles Dejon Finch, 34, and another man got out of their cars at Bullis Road and Carlin Avenue, near Lynwood Middle School, and started arguing, witnesses told sheriff’s deputies. Gang names were heard before the other man pulled out a weapon and shot Finch, who died at the scene, Ridley-Thomas said.
The gunman was described only as a tall black man driving a red sedan.
“There were witnesses present during the incident, but the information provided has not produced substantive results,” Ridley-Thomas said.
Anyone with more information was urged to call Detectives Dameron Peyton or Margarita Barron of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended extending a $10,000 reward for information leading to whoever fatally shot 28-year-old Daniel Dotson about 11 p.m. Nov. 24, 2010, in Palmdale.
Dotson was shot in a parking area behind his home in the 38500 block of Fifth Street East. Detectives think he may have surprised a burglar going through his car.
The reward, due to expire Jan. 11, will now be available for at least another 90 days.
Anyone with more information on this shooting was asked to call sheriff’s homicide Detective Karen Shonka at (323) 890-5500.
