“The aerospace cluster surrounding the Los Angeles Air Force Base is the most concentrated in the U.S., and this event will help us leverage that built-in advantage to boost exports and create middle class jobs,” Garcetti said.
The expo, co-sponsored by the city, the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp. and the U.S. Department of Commerce, is aimed at persuading international aerospace manufacturing firms to set up shop in Los Angeles and will include meetings with federal and local government officials and local industry leaders.
Bill Allen, the head of the LAEDC who helped land the expo, said Los Angeles had “asserted itself as the world-leader in next-generation aerospace innovation with fast-growing clusters in space
commercialization and unmanned aerial systems.”
