The Board of Supervisors Tuesday renewed a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a young man who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl at a Palmdale restaurant on New Year’s Day 2014.

Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended extending the reward, which was set to expire April 8. It will now be available for at least another 90 days.

Investigators released a surveillance photo of the attacker, estimated to be 18 to 20 years old, and said he assaulted the girl about 4:30 p.m. New Year’s Day 2014 as she exited a bathroom stall at a Denny’s restaurant in the 37000 block of 47th Street East.

Detectives believe the suspect is a panhandler with the nickname “Shrink” who was often seen at a nearby Chevron station in the early morning hours. He was described as white, with shaggy blond hair and a noticeable limp, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to call sheriff’s Detective Eliott Uribe at (877) 710-5273 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
