The Compton City Council has selected Roger Haley to serve as City Manager, with responsibility for the city’s day-to-day administration, the city announced Wednesday.
Haley will take over, with immediate effect, from interim City Manager Johnny Ford, who will return to the job of Assistant City Manager, a statement said.
In choosing Haley, a former Lynwood city manager, council members were responding to “his legislative and executive management as well as his commitment to fiscal responsibility, responsiveness and transparency,” it said.
The Compton City Manager is responsible for day-to-day administration, including implementing ordinances and City Council policies, oversight of 13 departments and a budget of $176 million.
