Street repairs were continuing Sunday after a six-inch water main broke in the Hollywood Hills and left 40 residents without water and at least two homes damaged due to a mudslide.
The water main break in the 8500 block of Appian Way occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Amanda Parsons. Service was restored to residents at 9:30 p.m. but street repairs were expected to continue Sunday.
The break caused about 8 feet of mud to slide against two homes, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the location at 7:39 a.m., where transportation officials have assisted in closing off Appian Way with hard barricades.
Building and Safety is assessing the structural integrity of the two damaged homes, Scott said.
No injuries have been reported, he said.
