Dick Van Dyke and Susan Sarandon will be among the stars turning out in force Saturday for Bernie Sanders in Los Angeles as the Democratic presidential candidates are here in advance of Tuesday’s California primary.
Another star of the political type will also be drumming up votes for his favorite candidate: Bill Clinton has three scheduled get-out-the-vote appearance in the Southland on behalf of his wife, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The former president will be in Inglewood, Torrance and Compton.
Hillary herself begins the day in Sylmar for a “conversation on immigration” before heading up the central coast to Osnard, Santa Barbara and then inland to Fresno. She’ll also be concentrating on voter turnout, but she’s expected to talk about women and families during her stop in Santa Barbara.
Bernie Sanders has a full day of Los Angeles events.
At 11:30 a.m. the Vermont senator holds a news conference in downtown Los Angeles, followed by a 1 p.m. get-out-the-vote speech and rally at his Hollywood campaign headquarters. He’ll then be in Boyle Heights for a town hall meeting about immigration, followed by a 5 p.m. get-out-the-vote rally and concert at the plaza at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The featured artists are Mark Foster, Ozomatli, Best Coast, Iration and Local Natives. Special guests will be Josh Fox, Max Carver, Dick Van Dyke, Susan Sarandon and Shailene Woodley.
