Riverside County residents who intend to run for local, state or federal office in the June 7 primary election have until Friday to submit their candidacy papers, according to the Office of the Registrar of Voters.

Registrar Rebecca Spencer said that registrar staff will be accepting statements, petitions and other material until 5 p.m. Friday.

The deadline will only be extended if an incumbent fails to file on time, at which point, the filing period will be stretched to March 16, she said.

“Candidates unsure about local district offices for which they are eligible, based on residency, should contact the Office of the Registrar of Voters for help,” according to an agency statement. “Candidates will receive informational handbooks at the time they obtain their papers.”

Council seats in multiple cities countywide are in play, as well as two state Senate seats, six Assembly seats, three county Board of Supervisors’ seats, with elections also being held for assessor-clerk-recorder, auditor-controller, district attorney, sheriff and treasurer-tax-collector.

Information regarding qualifications and filing requirements is available by contacting the registrar’s office at 951-486-7200, or visiting www.voteinfo.net.
