Forecasters are predicting very hot temperatures over Labor Day weekend and into next weekend across Riverside County.
Saturday’s highs were expected to reach 110 degrees in the Coachella Valley, 96 in the Riverside metropolitan area and 91 in the Temecula Valley, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters also predicted a slight chances of showers and thunderstorms in the mountains and high desert Saturday afternoon.
Overnight lows were expected to drop to 82 in the Coachella Valley, 67 in the Riverside metropolitan area and 64 in the Temecula Valley.
On Sunday, temperatures were expected to rise by a few degrees throughout the county. A few degrees of cooling is expected in the deserts on Labor Day due to the possibility of an influx of monsoonal moisture, the NWS announced. However, the Riverside metropolitan area was expected to reach 101 and the Temecula Valley was expected to reach 97 by Labor Day.
By Wednesday, the entire county will reach triple digit temperatures that will rise a few degrees by Thursday and Friday, according to the NWS.
The Coachella Valley was expected to reach 112 on Thursday and Friday while the Riverside metropolitan area was expected to reach 104 on Thursday and 102 on Friday, and the Temecula Valley was expected to remain at 100 both days, according to the NWS.
The hot, dry weather will also create elevated fire conditions across the mountains, valleys and deserts through next week.
