After three years in the role, Menifee Police Chief Chris Karrer has announced his retirement.

“As I reflect on a fulfilling career, I am very thankful for my time here in Menifee and am looking forward to my retirement,” Karrer said in a statement Thursday. “I have full confidence that the department will continue to thrive thanks to the exceptional men and women who serve and protect our community each and every day.”

Karrer has worked for 26 years in law enforcement spanning across three agencies in Southern California, according to the department.

Capt. Dave Gutierrez, who has been with the department since 2020, was appointed acting chief.

“We are thankful for Chief’s Karrer’s contributions to the Menifee community and wish him all the best in his retirement,” said City Manager Armando Villa.
