City Councilman Curren Price Tuesday announced the launch of the second round of a community grant program for his constituents in Council District 9, encompassing South LA neighborhoods.

A total of $3 million in grant funding is available for organizations serving communities such as Watts, Florence, Cypress Park, Lincoln Heights, University Park and Manchester Square, among others.

Organizations can apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 to support programs and services that directly benefit CD9 residents. Applications can be submitted at cd9.lacity.org through June 7.

Nonprofits, faith-based organizations, schools, neighborhood councils and health and community service providers are eligible to apply, according to Price’s office.

“Community organizations are the backbone of our neighborhoods,” Price said in a statement. “They are often the first place families turn to for support and opportunity.”

“Whether it’s connecting residents to critical resources, helping young people stay on the right path, or creating safer and stronger communities, these groups play an essential role in the everyday life of South Central LA. This funding is about investing in the people already doing that work,” Price added.

This latest round of funding builds on the Council District 9 Community Grant Program launched in 2022, which awarded more than $4 million to nearly 100 local organizations.
