A leak in a liquid nitrogen tank prompted a hazardous-materials response Thursday at a science building on the campus of USC.
The leak was reported around noon at the Frank R. Seaver Science Center at 920 Bloom Walk, according to USC and the Los Angeles Fire Department.
L.A. Fire Department and USC HazMat teams were at the scene working on a course of action, officials said.
No injuries were reported, and USC indicated there was no immediate danger — but people were nonetheless advised to avoid the area.
Liquid nitrogen is used as a cooling and freezing agent in many laboratory applications.
