The first trailer for “Jurassic World” arrived Tuesday with new faces, ominous dialogue and more than a few throwbacks to its dino-island ancestor.

The Universal Pictures reboot will bring audiences to a new and successful dinosaur theme park on Isla Nublar, 22 years after the adventures of the 1993 film “Jurassic Park.”

The new world makes quite an impression with gorgeous CGI dinosaurs in lush tropical greenery and futuristic glass gyrospheres. And franchise fans will appreciate the twist to a SeaWorld-esque water show featuring a shark-chomping dinosaur. But scenes past the 1-minute mark feel eerily identical to the original film with shots of mosquito-filled amber and egg incubators.

There’s a lot to mull and excite over in the 2-minute trailer, which shows promise in sticking to the old and true dinosaur formula. The new cast replaces the iconic scientist trio (and John Hammond’s grandchildren) with Chris Pratt’s gruff and brooding dinosaur sociologist Owen, Bryce Dallas Howard as scientist Claire and Ty Simpkins as a young wide-eyed park visitor with a knack for being quiet when hiding from a potentially killer dinosaur.

“Jurassic World” opens in theaters June 12, 2015.
