Film producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein will be honored by the International Cinematographers Guild as Motion Picture Showmen of the Year, the guild announced Wednesday.
“The Weinsteins are the very epitome of showmanship,” ICG President Steven Poster said. “They have impeccable taste and are universally regarded as the industry leaders in awards campaigns.”
The guild will present the honor to the Weinsteins during the 52nd Publicists Awards Luncheon, scheduled for Feb. 20 at the Beverly Hilton.
The guild hailed The Weinstein Co. as always being “in the hunt” during Oscar season, pointing to its current award hopeful “The Imitation Game,” which has eight Academy Award nominations, including best picture. It’s documentary “Citizenfour” is also nominated.”
The Weinsteins’ previous best-picture nominees — with The Weinstein Co. and previously Miramax — include “The King’s Speech,” “The Artist,” “The English Patient” and “Chicago.”
Previous winners of the showmanship award include Judd Apatow, Stanley Kramer, James Cameron and John Lasseter.
